Hwy 6 closed north of Deer River due to deteriorating pavement conditions
Motorists should use detour until repairs are completed by June 2
The Minnesota Department of Transportation closed Hwy 6 north of Deer River earlier this month due to deteriorating pavement conditions. Motorists will detour utilizing Itasca county roads 46 and 44. There is a seven-ton weight limit in effect. The Hwy will remain closed until repairs have been completed. Crews expect to complete the repairs by June 2, weather permitting.
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
